Chemon-Lime

3/20/2022

Originating from a hybrid of Chemdog x (Alien OG x Sour Dub), Chemon-Lime was built for wet northern outdoor climates. Stress tested thru repeated cycles of +10C/-3C in the extremely wet 2021 Ontario fall weather, this foul weather champ took it all in stride, exhibiting zero signs or Botrysis or White Powder Mildew.

2021 was the year of the Sativas for Freestone Genetics. Our primary goal was to cross a variety of elite outdoor sativa cultivars that we had been holding tightly for some time. With the ever shrinking landrace and orginal cannabis seed market, we took the time to create some very special sativa crosses to ensure our bank maintains these gems.

Every year we look for qualified individuals to grow or hunt our genetics!!

CAKER by Freestone Genetics

9/24/2021

Our Caker strain came to us 100% by chance and was never expected to ever crack our line-up. We came upon this strain thru some excellent craft cannabis from British Columbia in 2018. This flavor powerhouse has serious California lineage - Wedding Cake (Triangle Mints #23) x Mendobreath (Cherry Pie Kush x Mendo Montage). A single seed was collected from the purchased flower, and  produced a very unique and robust mother (pics below), that was 100% sun-grown to finish in Southern Ontario. Over 300 clones were taken from her in spring of 2021. She has been preserved thru clone, reversal, and cross breeding with our two best outdoor males, Bush Jam and Huron Haze.

Several test growers have this outdoor in 2021 and will weigh in on their findings this Fall. Indoor results have exceeded all expectations.

These genetics will be available by spring 2022.

Stay tuned!

A derogatory term for a Canadian person of Anglo-Saxon descent. Cakers have bad taste for absolutely everything, including music, film, sports, food, style and the opposite sex. Cakers love to get drunk off cheap beer and put ketchup and maple syrup on almost anything they eat. Cakers are big fans of hockey and follow the sport religiously. Toronto is the Mecca of Cakers.

If you are looking for a reputable cannabis seed breeder or seedbank, ask a reputable group or person for their opinion. DO NOT go by opinions posted on a forum or social media site. Send a polite email or message to an expert or group of experts, typically people who are already respected for their contributions and opinions on the matter. They will suggest sources and probably vouch for them. Do not be afraid to question why those recommendations.

OR don't be lazy and do your own research. There is a plethora of information with evidence on who best to select as YOUR source, based on YOUR requirements.
There are about a half dozen decent seedbanks and half as many reputable seed breeders in Canada.

Frenchy Cannoli: THE Master Hashishan

It is with great sadness that we make this post.

Frenchy was so much more than just a well respected Master Hashishan, he was loved for his honesty and desire to teach his skill and techniques to the masses. Frenchy affected many people in a variety of different ways.

We at Freestone were so excited to finally get a chance to meet the man we had shared many messages with but sadly Covid-19 prevented his Toronto appearances on several occasions. Nonetheless, as we forge ahead with our own endeavors, our hash work will undoubtedly reflect his timeless influence.
His works can be found all over the internet:

Website frenchycannoli.com/

Frenchy's impact and existing footprint will only grow despite him not being present.

That is what defines a true LEGEND.

RIP Friend

FG Huron Haze

5/26/2021

Our flagship sativa Huron Haze, is just months from first release. We have spent the past several years resurrecting a strain that has skunk origins from 1990 and is bred for the Canadian environment. All parental lineage was climatized in the fertile farmland of Huron County bordering Lake Huron, hence its name. This nearly pure sativa finishes flowering in late September and contains no Haze, despite its name, which is more a moniker of the cool and often damp climate it was created for. A medium to large plant that thrives in cooler climates, adverse conditions and finishes late September.

Freestone's Proprietary Sativa strain began with an original Skunk strain acquired in 1990 from a hydroponics grower in Hamilton Ontario. Around '98 the Skunk was crossed with a short Highland pure sativa strain(Nepalese) for vigor and a shorter plant structure. The Proprietary Sativa was then backcrossed until a homogenous medium self-supporting sativa structure was the primary phenotype by 2003. The strain was grown sporadically until 2018 when it was crossed with another similar Highland sativa strain with the desired growth period and structure we needed to turn out a unique cold-weather nearly pure sativa strain. This cross was a purple highland sativa also known for its pest resistance and ability to thrive in cold climates.

On a rare instance the skunk phenotype shows itself.
HURON HAZE
Type:  Sativa Hybrid
Lineage:  (Skunk1 x Nepalese Highland) X (Nepalese Highland x Oaxacan)

Structure:  Phenotype I = Medium Sativa, Phenotype II = Med to Tall needing no support
Bouquet:  Sweet cherry/grape and mothball scents, sour berry and fruit flavors

Gelato 41 x Sherb BX1 (Jealousy)

Gelato 41 x Sherb BX1
Having access to elite OG(original grower) strains is the key to being a successful and reputed breeder in the ever changing world of cannabis. Heat-of-the-day strains fizzle out just as quickly as they enter the game and we are left with the building blocks that made them so great to begin with. Often the origin of these strains is widely disputed by many and there are always claims of "your version not being the true OG bred strain". In this instance of (Gelato 41 x Sherb BX1) or Jealousy as it was termed by the breeder, Seed Junky Seeds - JBeeezy, our (Freestone) version of the genetics is a true OG strain of the breed.... and we could not be happier!

Although we are not running pure versions of the Jealousy strain, we have acquired crosses of it. These extremely high THC strains represent the some of the best medicinal grades available today.

Our 2021 Jealousy crosses are as follows:

Death Bubba x Jealousy (DB&J)
DB (Bubba Kush x Death Star) by Sea to Sky  X  J (Gelato 41 x Sherb BX1) by Seed Junky
DB = 24-27% THC @ 70 Indica  X  J = 28-33% THC @ 70 Indica

Platinum Blackberry x Jealousy (PB&J)
PB (Platinum OG Kush x Blackberry Kush) from BC  X  J (Gelato 41 x Sherb BX1) by Seed Junky
PB = 20% THC @ 70 Indica  X  J = 28-33% THC @ 70 Indica

FG: BLUEBERRY ROMULAN

9/29/2020

FG Blueberry Romulan originates from Blueberry Punch seeds purchased from Next Generation Seed Company.

The Difference -
NGSC BP genetics originated in British Columbia vs FG BR being grown and bred in Southern Ontario. Climatization to Ontario is the only real difference between the two varieties; with the exception of the breeders care.

Conclusion:
Strain was abandoned due to lack of potency.

Now to clear up the story and myths that go around, due mainly to people in the industry(other seed companies) who are more interested in making money than giving information that is correct. Haze brothers worked on the Haze’s and they did get to Sam and Nevil(owner of THE SEEDBANK…and then Ben Dronkers retailed Nevils strains under the label of SENSI SEEDBANK after Nevil had some jail time in Australia .Nevil was the first Seed Bank or company to exist in Holland so his legendary strains such as Northern lights 5, Ultra skunk , Nl5 Haze, Early pearl , Early girl, Shiva Skunk….and so on became the basis for a lot of offspring seed companies that followed in the 90s.

In fact companies like Dutch passion and Nirvana began by copying Nevils seeds from the F1 seed…but most of them would never say so as they are Dutch business men who see dollars first and not genetics….Sam and Nevil use to work a bit on strains together but when it was revealed that Sam and his crew of Americans in Holland all were part of informants for the DEA in America on a radio program in Holland they split to the UK to do other things. Sam never started or owned a seed company so his claim to all the strains that became famous years ago are not really warranted. He did however do a lot of work on Skunk and shared some seed with Nevil, but as you know for breeding you cannot just take any plant and make a strain like Greenhouse does nowadays. I was working in Australia on varieties like Mullumbimby madness and Thai and Columbia strains of sativas, as well as a lot of original Afghan stock. When I came to Holland in 1990 with my seed stock I linked up with Nevil , and used Arjan’s coffeeshops to introduce strains of cannabis and a little later the seed versions, but we never gave any of the plants to him.Arjan just sold seed produced by Nevil and myself. I co founded the Greenhouse Seed Company with Arjan in 1994(unlike Arjan’s claim it began in 1985 from him alone…he was angry that I sold my half share to him and left in 1998 to Switzerland and to open Mr Nice Seedbank with Nevil and Howard…but I was and still am the sole owner of MNS). In 1995 I came out with the seed version of White widow, then White Rhino 1996 and White Shark 1997…el nino1998 , Himalayan gold and so on. Nevil and I co worked on some Haze strains during the early to mid 90s of which Super Silver Haze and Mango Haze were two strains that eventually came out of this work. The seed was sold under the Greenhouse Seed co label but Nevil held those plants and only sold the seed of these varieties as well as the weed version that won all those awards. So as to help Arjan sell the correct weed we set up our own independent grow rooms and produced those weeds and Arjan bought them all so as no other Dutch shop could compete. In those days the Greenhouse sold the correct weed and seed. But in 1998 when I won all the cups with Nevil(including Shantibaba’s Hash for best nederhash) I was givien a better offer by a Swiss group to set up a medical cannabis farm and distil oil…so I sold my share to Arjan and left. A lot of people were shocked as they thought we were a solid unit but actually Arjan was over the top already with his success and his ego was too much to listen to and considering the Swiss thing had unlimited possibility where as Holland was stuck at being glorified dope dealers….as it still is today. Medical was more my interest.
